Twooooo goood! This slinky antique watch chain was once 2 different chains, probably employed to secure pocket watches, but today is revamped and ready to be your dreamy layering champion.

There is a lot going on with this guy- different styles of chain, a slide, a T Bar, two dog clips- let's get into it! The side with the double curb chain has a very liquidy, fluid feel but at the same time has a cool, chunky-chain look. A small, functional rectangular slide holds the two chains together and keeps them from gapping. One side of the slide is decorated in black enamel with a very organic design and the reverse is a little engraved house (!!!). This detail is so cute and I love a slide- basically a built in charm! We know from a stamp on the inside of the dog clip that this chain* was made by RF Simmons Co in Attleboro, Massachusetts around 1915.

The other side of the necklace is a chunkier chain, alternating longer oval links with little rounds which makes for a cool, modern "paper clip" look. The two chains meet up at a trefoil shaped station, and then drop down to a sleek T Bar and an antique six pence coin. The coin is from 1844 and features Queen Victoria on one side and a crown with a laurel wreath on the other. In 1844, Queen Victoria was 25 years old, had two kids and had been Queen for seven years! The coin is made of silver, and I attached it here because coins are cool, and as you know I love a two-tone look!

The chain closes at the back with two dog clips which are large and easy to open and close. This is a real bonus feature for anyone who doesn't like fiddling with tiny little clasps! This necklace would be an excellent every day workhorse, a great longer length that looks amazing on its own or layered with shorter pieces. Wearable history!

Chain is approximately 19½ inches long, the drop to the T Bar and the coin pendant is an additional inch and a half.

T Bar measures approximately 1 ¾ inch wide

Antique, very good condition, a few areas of wear on the chain. Not bad at all for being 100+ years old.

Goldfill chain and T-Bar, silver coin

The necklace weighs 37 grams

*The two curb chains are twisted in a way that is not reversible - I like the way this looks, it looks like a little braid and it adds texture and depth to the overall look of the piece, but if this is going to drive you crazy, then this is not the chain for you!
