This ring is the jewel equivalent of my favorite 80s Barbie, Peaches and Cream! Similar to her extravagant dress from the 80s, this ring is quite eye-catching and has a certain something about it, I have had multiple people at pop ups try her on and fall in love - she really is very dreamy and special! Unlike our favorite ruffled tulle classic, this ring is antique, dating from the 1800s, a Victorian style with 5 oval cabochon corals and 8 tiny, sparkling rose cut diamond accents. I see this style of ring quite often with opals, turquoise and sometimes even diamonds, but coral is unusual. As a gemstone, coral has been prized for centuries by different cultures for different things, this lighter pinky-peach color is traditionally seen as a representation of femininity and beauty. (Just like our friend, Barbara!)

The tiny rosecut accent diamonds are charmingly wonky as they are handcut and therefore wonderfully imperfect. Rosecut diamonds are my favorite because they look like little disco balls. If you haven't seen her recently, google 'peaches and cream Barbie' and look at the bustier of her dress - very rosecut diamond, no? And check out that curling scrollwork in the gallery (aka the underside of the ring)! It mimics all the flowy ruffles that cascade down the famously voluminous skirt. Is this an insane connection to make? Would the maker of this ring be offended that ~150 years after its creation it's being compared to a plastic doll from the most insanely opulent and excessive decade of the twentieth century? Maybe, but I hope someone out there gets it!
