These studs are such cool examples of inlay! Each earring is an oval segmented into 4 equal parts, two are left as wedge shape quadrants of turquoise, and the other two are striped with onyx and silver lines. The overall look is simple, but graphic and geometric.
Inlay is a very labor intensive process, involving cutting tiny pieces of stone, measured to fit just so and setting them all to be flush and smooth across the top.
These studs were found in Durango, CO near the Four Corners monument where the borders of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona all line up!
Vintage, good condition - one stud has a little damage to one tiny silver stripe, but it is not obvious when wearing, and does not affect the integrity of the earring. It does stand up a little bit, and is not quite flush with the rest of the earring.
Silver, turquoise, and onyx earrings with sterling silver butterfly backs
Each earring measures approximately ⅓ inch long
