The motif of leaves and branches in jewelry goes back to ancient times. Bacchus, the Roman god of agriculture, wine, fertility and revelry is often depicted alongside curling vines, grapes and grape leaves. The first Olympians were awarded wreaths and crowns of laurel leaves, that imagery is still seen on medals and trophies today to represent victory and glory.

The symbolism in natural and organic forms is plentiful and varied. Leaves can represent new growth, the changing of seasons and hope. Of course there is always the wisdom of nature- she arrives right when she’s meant to. New growth and hope will always come back around. The silver branch here set into a slab of onyx is studded with 5 little white diamonds. It feels vaguely antique in style, but also very open to interpretation.

I love the classic signet shape of this ring, it is a truly unisex piece! It weighs in at 6+ grams, making it substantial but not terribly heavy, and therefore, IMO, perfect as a pinky ring. Very old school in shape and yet the little branch detail gives it a unique look that feels fresh.
