Here we have a weighty vintage turquoise statement piece with 8 oval cabochons.
What's a cabochon, you say? So glad you asked! A cabochon, pronounced "cab-uh-shon," is defined as a gemstone that has been shaped and polished rather than faceted, the way a diamond is cut. They are often called "cabs," and are one of the oldest and most common forms of gem cutting, oval in shape with a rounded top and a flat bottom. The word itself comes from the French word “caboche,” meaning head or noggin. Isn't that great! I love it.
The closure on this bracelet is a box clasp, which is sturdy and secure. The sleek rectangular shape of the clasp is a nice contrast to the rounded ovals and adds a little interest to the overall shape of the piece. A simple symmetrical design that will always be cool, IMO!
